The course and assessment are delivered through our partner platform, ClassMarker. The reference text is included with each individual question along with the code changes (if applicable). A passing grade of 70% or greater is required to complete the exam.

Your certificate of completion is issued as soon as you finish. It is delivered as a PDF. Keep it — Alaska randomly audits renewals, and licensees must retain proof of CE for at least four years (12 AAC 02.960).

Alaska electrical administrators self-certify their continuing education on the renewal form and keep the certificate as proof in case of audit.

It's self-paced, so if you're up against a renewal deadline you can finish and download your certificate the same day.

Administrator licenses expire December 31 of every odd-numbered year, with no grace period — it's illegal to work on a lapsed license. The State sends one renewal notice about 30 days before expiration, but renewing on time is your responsibility.

Complete your 8 hours during your two-year licensing period (e.g., Jan 1, 2026 – Dec 31, 2027). One catch: if you finish CE after January 1 of your renewal year, the State allows it for that renewal, but those hours can't be reused next cycle (per the renewal form's certification, which cites 12 AAC 02.965). Finishing before December 31 keeps it clean.
